Mr. Sethaput Suthiwart-Narueput, Ph.D., 39, received his Ph.D. and M.A. in Economics from Yale University, U.S.A. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Swarthmore College, U.S.A with Highest Honors. In addition to his excellent academic credentials, he has extensive experience in finance, economics, banking and the capital markets, and is therefore a highly-qualified person.
Prior to joining the SET, Dr. Sethaput had worked with McKinsey & Co., Inc. in New York, U.S.A.; been a co-director at the Policy Research Institute, Ministry of Finance of Thailand during the economic crisis period in 1988 – 2000; taught at Sasin Graduate Institute of Business Administration, Chulalongkorn University; and been an advisor to the Comptroller Department, Ministry of Finance, and to the Financial Institutions Development Fund (FIDF). He also had worked for the World Bank for 10 years, including in the Research Department, and lastly as Senior Economist, East Asia Region, just prior to joining the SET as a SVP.
