Ms Patareeya Benjapolchai, Executive Vice President of the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), announced that the SET had selected a number of new securities to be included in the calculation of the SET50 Index for the 1 July - 31 December 2002 period. Four securities are added to the list: PTT Plc (PTT) from the Energy Sector, Aeon Thana Sinsap (Thailand) Plc (AEONTS) from the Finance and Securities Sector, Golden Land Property Development Plc (GOLD) and Quality Houses Plc (QH) from the Property Development Sector. These four securities replace Cal Comp Electronics (Thailand) Plc (CCET) from the Electronic Components Sector, Ekachart Finance Plc (EFS) from the Finance and Securities Sector, Bangkok Land Plc. (B-LAND) from the Property Development Sector, and Phoenix Pulp & Paper Plc. (PPPC) from the Pulp and Paper Sector.
'The selection of securities is based on market capitalization and liquidity criteria. Trading statistics from 1 June 2001 - 31 May 2002 were used in the calculation. Furthermore, eligible securities must neither be suspended for a long period, nor face possible delisting," the SET Executive Vice President said.
