The SET signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the AFET to provide technical assistance and share information. The MOU will extend their existing collaboration for an additional three years, to end October 18, 2008.
SET President, Mr. Kittiratt Na-Ranong, stated that the SET’s assistance to AFET has been ongoing since AFET’s inauguration on May 28, 2004. Support from the SET includes human resources, technology, public relations and back-up services for the AFET’s trading system.
“This MOU extends the ongoing collaboration between the SET and AFET. We’ve been working closely to develop all the systems involved in futures trading so that they are able to function efficiently. In addition to technical assistance, the SET and AFET will jointly work towards a greater understanding of futures trading amongst investors. These developments in both the technological and educational sides will help the Thai market advance in line with international markets and achieve sustainable development,” Mr. Kittiratt said.
AFET President Ms. Napaporn Kurupasutachai said: “We’ve been working with the SET’s IT team in sharing information about technological systems involved in futures trading. The collaboration, including market education, will benefit the development of the both the Thai financial and agricultural sectors as well as the economy as a whole.”
The content of this MOU focuses on extending the ongoing collaboration between the two organizations to help develop the futures exchange and related systems, educate the market, and share information.
