Steven Maijoor, ESMA Chair, Delivers Keynote At CMU Mid-Term Review

Steven Maijoor, the Chair of the European Securities and Markets Authority, has delivered the closing keynote at the European Commission's CMU Mid-Term Review Public Hearing.

Topics of focus included:

• progress made on supervisory convergence;
• the need for stronger supervisory convergence powers;
• ESMA's work to address the risk of regulatory arbitrage linked to the UK's exit from the EU;
• ESMA will publish a number of opinions on the regulatory arbitrage issue - one general opinion looking at cross-cutting issues, along with three specific thematic opinions focusing on asset management, investment firms and secondary markets.
