"This morning, several members of the NYSE Board of Directors and I met with a number of state treasurers and representatives from public pension funds. The meeting was very constructive, and there were a number of helpful recommendations put forth during the session. It was clear that their interests are aligned with ours regarding governance issues at the Exchange. Importantly, the attendees expressed a desire to partner with the NYSE and the SEC to consider what reforms should be made with regard to the Exchange's governance and we welcome their continued input.
"We will share the concerns and recommendations of these individuals with John Reed upon his arrival at the Exchange, and with John we will respond to plans to develop a working partnership with these very important representatives of the investing public."
