Statement Of The IFRS Foundation Monitoring Board On The Appointment Of Mr. Steven Maijoor As Chair Of The IFRS Foundation Trustees

The IFRS Foundation Monitoring Board is pleased to announce that it has approved the appointment by the IFRS Foundation Trustees of Mr. Steven Maijoor as Chair of the Trustees.

Mr. Maijoor has a distinguished career in financial regulation and policy making. He has held various senior posts, including member of the Executive Board of De Nederlandsche Bank N.V, Chair of the European Securities and Markets Authority, Managing Director at the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets, and Chair of the International Forum of Independent Audit Regulators. He also has an outstanding academic background as Professor and Dean of School of Business and Economics, Maastricht University. Mr. Maijoor has been member of the Trustees since January 2023 and succeeds Mr. Erkki Liikanen. He is expected to lead the IFRS Foundation Trustees in advancing the development of—in the public interest—material high-quality, understandable, enforceable and globally accepted standards for accounting and sustainability reporting, and to promote and facilitate their use and adoption.

The Monitoring Board also thanks Mr. Liikanen for his dedicated leadership and close collaboration with the Monitoring Board and acknowledges the enormous contribution he has made to the IFRS Foundation.
