Statement From SEC Chairman William H. Donaldson Regarding NYSE Selection Of John Thain As CEO

Today SEC Chairman William H. Donaldson made the following statement regarding the selection of John Thain to serve as chief executive officer of the New York Stock Exchange.

"I want to congratulate the NYSE Board and interim Chairman John Reed on the selection of John Thain as the new CEO of the Exchange. John Thain brings a distinguished record of leadership and knowledge to this important new role. I, together with the Commission, look forward to working with him and the NYSE as the institution moves to address the many ongoing and important challenges that lie ahead."
