Date 14/02/2001

Standard & Poor's Canadian Index Operations announces that effective after the close of business on Thursday, February 15, 2001, the following changes will take place in the S&P/TSE Global 1200, TSE 300 Composite, S&P/TSE 60 and TSE 100 Indices.

The weight of Nortel Networks Inc. (TSE: NT) will increase by approximately 0.29% in the TSE 300 Composite Index, 0.37% in the S&P/TSE 60 Index, 0.33% in the TSE 100 Index. The relative weight change reflects an adjustment to the float shares of the company due to the acquisition of JDS Uniphase's Zurich, Switzerland-based subsidiary.

Company additions to and deletions from an S&P equity index do not in any way reflect an opinion on the investment merits of the company.
