SSgA Dow Jones Canada 40 Index Participation Fund To Trade On The Toronto Stock Exchange

The Units of SSgA Dow Jones Canada 40 Index Participation Fund (the "Fund") will begin trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange on Tuesday, October 3, 2000.

Stock Symbol: "DJF" -- 6,500,000 Units will be issued and outstanding.

The Fund has been created by State Street Global Advisors, Ltd. ("SSgA") under the laws of Ontario. SSgA, an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of State Street Bank and Trust Company, a Massachusetts trust company, is the sponsor and manager of the Fund and in such capacity is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Fund. State Street Trust Company Canada, an affiliate company of SSgA is the Trustee of the Fund.

The Fund will be managed as an index-tracking fund with the Dow Jones Canada 40 Index (the "Index") as its benchmark. The Fund invests in shares of the 40 constituent companies which make up the Index. These shares are held by the Fund in the same proportion as they are reflected in the Index.
