Spectrum Markets Reaches Milestone Of 1 Million Trades

Date 08/09/2020

Spectrum Markets, the pan-European trading venue for securitised derivatives, has reached the milestone of one million trades since its launch in October 2019. The average monthly growth rate was 16%, and on average 72% of the instruments available on the venue were traded, reflecting an efficient concentration of liquidity.

Nicky Maan, CEO of Spectrum Markets, explains: “To achieve the milestone of one million trades in such short period of time is a phenomenal result. The growth reflects both the increasing popularity of the product on our venue and the importance to retail investors of being able to react to market events at any time. We match their demand with our 24/5 model.”

Since October 2019, over 240 million securitised derivatives have been traded on Spectrum. In August, 27.3 million securitised derivatives were traded. The share of out-of-hours trading (i.e. 1730-0900) was 35.4%.

The breakdown of trading volume of securitised derivatives in August is as follows: 85% is attributable to indices (July: 87.7%), 5.4% to FX (July: 7%) and 9.6% to commodities (July: 5.3%).
