Slovenian Stock Exchange Index Reaches Its Record Second Time This Year

Date 06/11/2001

The leading Ljubljana Stock Exchange index - SBI20, reached its record history value for the second time this year on Monday, 5 November 2001. It climbed to 2.039,79 points and thus exceeded its previous record 2.035,76 points of 7 September this year.

On this day there was an increase of Mercator (+0,68%) and Krka shares (+0,5%), which represent a 10% share in the index each, and an increase of shares of Pivovarna Laško (+2,07%), which contribute 7,16% to the index value.

The reason for recent optimism on Ljubljana Stock Exchange lies partly in the increased interest of foreign investors in Slovenian companies, which has been experienced lately. The surplus of funds has been invested on the capital market, which resulted in recent positive trend on Ljubljana Stock Exchange Inc.
