On 16 June 2016, the first edition of the ETF/ETP Roundtable series of the current year took place. The event at the ConventionPoint in Zurich was attended by over 40 participants from the fields of asset management and market making as well as by institutional investors and financial journalists. They were welcomed by Danielle Mair, Senior ETFs & ETPs Sales Manager at SIX Swiss Exchange, who presented a current overview on the latest figures in the ETF segment of the Swiss exchange.
The following roundtable debate on the topic of "The investment cycle in the commodity market: optimism or pessimism?" was moderated by Harry Büsser, Head of the financial editorial department at BILANZ. Andre Voinea (ETF Securities
), Philipp Schlegel (Van Eck Switzerland
) and Susanne Toren (Zürcher Kantonalbank
) discussed the ideal entry timing for commodity investments, the impact of the global economy on prices of precious metals and which commodities should be used in portfolios for diversification purposes. Current topics such as Brexit, the upward trend of certain commodities as well as the benefit of integrating them into portfolios to increase diversification were discussed in detail, providing the attendees of the event with specific pointers on how to invest in today's economic environment.
