Six Hungarian Trading Participants Now Active On Xetra - Deutsche Börse Connects First Participants From Budapest Stock Exchange To Xetra

Date 14/08/2003

Since Thursday, for the first time, Hungarian market participants from the Budapest Stock Exchange have been trading on Xetra, the electronic trading platform of Deutsche Börse, as the company announced on Thursday. The Budapest Stock Exchange was technically linked to Xetra for this and is functioning as a so-called Multi Member Frontend Provider, who makes available the necessary technical infrastructure, as well as the network, for its trading participants. The first five trading participants to use the Multi Member Service of the Budapest Stock Exchange are Concorde Securities Ltd, ING Hungary Ltd, Budacash Ltd, Inter Europa Bank Ltd and Erste Bank Hungary Ltd. Moreover, another Hungarian market participant, Takarekbank Ltd, is trading on Xetra via an internet connection, Deutsche Börse said. All six Hungarian banks and securities trading firms had been directly admitted to trading as participants at the Frankfurt Stock Exchange (FWB Frankfurter Wertpapierbörse).

With the connection of East European trading participants, Deutsche Börse is continuing to expand its global participant network. Some 310 participants from 16 countries currently participate in Xetra trading. The trading participants worldwide benefit from equal access to the trading platform regardless of their location. In addition to flexibility and high-performance, Xetra is distinguished above all by the international product spectrum with over 10,000 equities and exchange-traded funds.
