Singapore Exchange Nikkei, JGB And SiMSCI Futures Break Records - Jan To Mar Volume Grows 11%

Singapore Exchange Ltd (SGX) today announced that its Nikkei 225 Stock Index, Mini 10-Yr Japanese Government Bond and MSCI Singapore Index Futures contracts broke the following records in March 2003:-

SGX's total derivatives trading volume from January to March 2003 grew 10.8% to 8,091,788 contracts, from 7,302,430 contracts during the same period last year.

The trading volume in March 2003 grew 35.3% to 3,563,849 contracts, compared to 2,634,570 contracts in March 2002, and was an increase of 65.5% over the volume of 2,153,565 contracts traded in February 2003.

The month of March also saw robust growth of several derivatives contracts:-

In particular, MSCI Singapore Stock Index Futures contracts traded 94,097 contracts, a 83.4% increase as compared to 51,309 contracts traded in March 2002. Eurodollar Futures contracts traded in March this year grew 56.2% to 2,053,365 contracts, from 1,314,705 contracts traded in the same month last year.
