Singapore Exchange Limited (SGX) today announced that it is cooperating with the Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) to assist with each other's marketing efforts in their respective cities.

SGX is supporting SSE's seminar in Singapore on 8 January 2003. Targeted at institutional investors and companies in Singapore, the seminar will discuss capital markets investment in China.

Similarly, SSE will provide support for SGX's marketing seminar in Shanghai. Scheduled in March 2003, the seminar is held to attract Chinese companies to list on SGX.

In addition, the senior managements of both exchanges have agreed to explore the possibility of further cooperation.

Mr Ang Swee Tian, SGX President, said, "We are pleased to partner SSE in jointly promoting our markets, and to play a part in the rapid development of China's capital market. This mutually beneficial arrangement marks the beginning of possible cooperation between the two exchanges in other areas."
