Singapore Exchange Derivatives Trading Wins Derivatives Exchange Of The Year 2000 Award

Date 24/11/2000

Singapore Exchange Derivatives Trading (SGX-DT) has been named Derivatives Exchange of the Year 2000 by the AsiaRisk magazine.

In its first annual AsiaRisk 2000 Congress held recently in Hong Kong, AsiaRisk, the global risk management journal based in Hong Kong, noted.

that Singapore Exchange Derivatives Trading (SGX-DT), a subsidiary of SGX, “has one of the most impressive resumes in the Asia-Pacific region”.

It cited several initiatives pioneered by the exchange, as well as its healthy growth in the first 3 quarters, when flat or decreasing liquidity was being experienced in other markets. AsiaRisk also recognised that SGX has forged value-adding alliances with several exchanges around the world.

Mr Ang Swee Tian, SGX’s President said, “We are happy that we have won recognition for our efforts in developing new initiatives and in broadening our product range. However, we also owe our success to the support of our members and partner exchanges, who together help us provide a global broking network for our market participants.”

Mr Jimmy Ang, Executive Vice President and Division Head of SGX’s Derivatives Trading division, added, “We will continue to identify new trends and areas for growth, by listening and responding to our members and customers, and taking the necessary actions to broaden our marketplace, and deepen our liquidity pools.”

This is the exchange’s 6th award to date, after being named International Exchange of the Year 1989, 1992, 1993 and 1998 by International Financing Review; and Asia’s Best Derivatives Exchange 1999 by The Asset magazine.
