Singapore Exchange Derivatives Trading Enjoys Another Month Of Strong Growth In Volume

Singapore Exchange Derivatives Trading (SGX-DT) is pleased to announce figures showing robust trading volume for the month of May 2000 with a total of 2,524,376 contracts traded, up 34.7% over the 1,873,902 contracts traded in the same month last year.

The Exchange total trading volume for the period from January to May this year reached 11,996,501 contracts, up 18.92 % from the 10,087,756 contracts traded during the same period last year.

In particular, the SGX-DT MSCI Singapore Stock Index Futures (SiMSCI) contract open interest recorded an all time high of 5,996 contracts on 29 May 2000. Its volume also hit an all time high of 219,338 contracts traded for the period from January to May 2000, up a whopping 150.40% from the 87,594 contracts traded during the same period last year.

Major contracts also post strong performance for the period of January to May 2000 compared to the same period last year.
