Singapore Exchange August Derivatives Volume Grow 6.6% - SiMSCI, Nikkei And Taiwan Futures Record Strong Growth

Singapore Exchange (SGX) today announced that its total derivatives trading volume grew 6.6% for the month of August 2003 with 3,240,762 contracts traded, compared to 3,039,500 contracts in the same month last year. Total volume from January to August 2003 grew 7.7% with 23,984,015 contracts, compared to 22,269,606 contracts in the same period last year.

Eurodollar and MSCI Taiwan futures both broke records in August. Eurodollar futures set a new open interest record on 1 August with 229,559 contracts, surpassing its previous record of 220,929 contracts set on 7 November 2002. MSCI Taiwan futures set a new open interest record on 27 August with 103,081 contracts, as compared to its previous record of 102,156 contracts set on 29 July this year.
