Singapore Exchange Appoints Jenny Chiam As New Securities Head

Date 18/04/2013

Singapore Exchange (“SGX”) appoints Jenny Chiam to the position of Senior Vice President, Head of Securities. Prior to joining SGX, Ms Chiam served as the Head of South East Asia Equities and as CEO of Nomura Securities Singapore.

Ms Chiam will take over the role from Nels Friets, SGX’s current Head of Securities who came out of retirement in June 2011 for a two-year stint with the company. During this time, he strengthened the SGX Securities team and spearheaded strategy development to build the Securities marketplace.

Mr Friets will return to retirement and leave SGX at the end of August 2013. However, he will continue his engagement with SGX as Advisor.

“It gives me great pleasure to welcome Jenny to SGX.  With her wealth of experience in equity market products and intimate understanding of customer needs, I am confident that Jenny will further develop our Securities market and ensure SGX progresses as an innovative, customer-focused organisation.  I would also like to thank Nels for his contribution to SGX over the last 2 years and wish him the best in his future endeavors,” said SGX President, Muthukrishnan Ramaswami.

Ms Chiam will join SGX on 1 July 2013 and report to Mr Ramaswami.

She holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Melbourne.
