Date 04/10/2000

Singapore Exchange (SGX) and Korea Stock Exchange (KSE) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen information-sharing links that will lead to the further development of both exchanges’ derivatives and securities markets.

The MOU is a platform for exploring areas of cooperation related to: (1) operational frameworks of both exchanges; and (2) information sharing.

“SGX is happy to forge this link with KSE. This initiative goes hand in hand with our philosophy of forming strategic tie-ups with like-minded exchanges and benefit from the synergies generated. We believe that this latest tie-up, together with SGX’s other alliances, will facilitate the growth and development of the region’s financial markets, both individually and collectively,” said Mr Thomas Kloet, CEO of SGX.

Mr ChangBae Park, Chairman and CEO of KSE said, “This MOU is a significant step, not just for our two exchanges, but also for Singapore and Korean businesses. I am confident that we will achieve positive results from this cooperation.”
