Singapore Exchange Achieves Record Derivatives Trading Volume In 2002

Date 02/01/2003

Singapore Exchange (SGX) today announced that its total derivatives trading volume for 2002 was an all time high of 32,887,395 contracts, surpassing the previous record of 30,989,862 contracts set in 2001, and representing a growth of 6.1%.

The steady growth in the year may be attributed to the strong trading interest in Eurodollar Futures. Trading performance was also boosted by the MSCI Taiwan Index Futures and Options and the MSCI Singapore Index Futures contracts.

The year 2002 also saw several individual products breaking their previous record annual volumes set in 2001:-
