SIFMA’s Katie Kolchin, CFA Appointed Managing Director, Equity And Options Market Structure

SIFMA today announced that Katie Kolchin has been appointed to the position of managing director, equity and options market structure.

In this new role, Ms. Kolchin will serve as the staff advisor to both SIFMA’s Equity Markets and Trading Committee and SIFMA’s Listed Options Committee.  She will be responsible for all market structure issues in the equities and listed options areas, which is part of SIFMA’s broader Capital Markets division, and will report to Rob Toomey, head of SIFMA’s capital markets practice and SIFMA managing director and associate general counsel.

“Katie has served our members well as SIFMA’s head of research and brings extensive market structure knowledge from both her work here and covering the sector earlier in her career.  Her work is outstanding, and we are very pleased to see her step into this new role,” said Kenneth E. Bentsen, Jr., SIFMA president and CEO.

“Equity and options market structure is an important priority for SIFMA and our members.  Katie has the right knowledge and experience with our membership for this role,” said Joe Seidel, SIFMA chief operating officer.

Ms. Kolchin has worked at SIFMA since 2017, being named head of research in 2019. Previously, she was a senior equity research analyst at Rosenblatt Securities, covering exchanges and capital markets firms on a global basis. Prior to that, she was a senior investment research analyst at Moody’s Investors Service, covering exchanges, clearing houses, and other market infrastructure firms and launching on Moody’s clearing industry methodology and company coverage. She also analyzed the global investment banks for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and worked as a global equity research analyst at UBS Securities, where she performed fundamental research and undertook an investment strategy role.  A CFA charterholder, Ms. Kolchin also holds an MBA with a concentration in Finance from New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business and both a BA in Economics and BS in Environmental Science from Lehigh University. She was also a member of the CFA Society New York Board of Directors Nominations Committee.
