SIFMA today released the following statement from former Senator Judd Gregg, CEO, after the United States Senate unanimously confirmed Kara Stein and Michael Piwowar as Commissioners of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and confirmed a full term for SEC chairman Mary Jo White.
"Kara Stein and Michael Piwowar are excellent choices for SEC Commissioners and we congratulate them on their new roles. There’s no question that their experience and talent will be an asset to the SEC as it works to protect investors and the American public and promote the integrity of America’s capital markets.
“We also commend the Senate’s confirmation of current SEC chairman Mary Jo White to a full term. Mary Jo White is a proven leader and we look forward to working with her as she guides the agency forward in the Dodd-Frank rulemaking process and other initiatives that can improve investor protection and strengthen our capital markets.
“Additionally, SIFMA thanks departing Commissioners Elisse Walter and Troy Paredes for their public service during such a critical time for the U.S. economy and capital markets.
