SIFMA Statement On Final SEC Whistleblower Rules

SIFMA today released the following statement from Ira Hammerman, senior managing director and general counsel, after the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) approved final rules on the treatment of whistleblowers.

“We applaud the SEC for taking a constructive and thoughtful approach to these rules.  While we are still reviewing the text, we appreciate the SEC’s willingness to work with the industry and make important and necessary changes to the internal reporting provisions and the provisions on who can collect monetary awards.  We now encourage the CFTC to revise their proposed rule to come into greater alignment with the SEC’s final rules, to ensure regulatory consistency and clarity.”
