This year’s meeting is highlighted by the anniversary of SIFMA’s first year of operation, after the merger last year of the Securities Industry Association (SIA) and The Bond Market Association (TBMA). Furthermore, this event provides opportunities to meet and hear senior regulators, industry leaders, and industry participants as they address new strategies, initiatives, issues and opportunities that will affect the industry in the coming year.
“The last year has brought significant changes to our organization and the industry we represent, which makes this meeting all the more timely,” said Marc Lackritz, SIFMA president and CEO. “For two and a half intense days, this meeting will not only explore SIFMA’s role in the securities industry and capital markets, but also the ways in which the industry as a whole is evolving and the best ways to address those developments. We are eager to bring our members together where they can discuss important issues and also benefit from the perspective of industry and regulatory leaders in both debt and equity markets.”
SIFMA’s Annual Meeting begins with committee meetings and industry forums on Wednesday. Lackritz and Ed Forst, 2007 SIFMA Chairman, will begin the general session of the meeting on Thursday morning (November 8), where the recipients of SIFMA’s Diversity leadership Awards will be announced.
