On 22 January 2010 the Romanian derivatives exchange Sibex launched an equity market. This development will be a source of new areas of cooperation and advantages for the Polish capital market.
On the fifteenth anniversary of its derivatives trading platform, Sibex launched an equity market which had been implemented in cooperation with the Warsaw Stock Exchange. Concurrently with the new market, the Sibex Depository was launched. The institution will act as depository and provide clearing as well as settlement services for the new market.
The Warsaw bourse has been supporting Sibex in building the capital market infrastructure and expanding its products range since October 2007 when the WSE became a shareholder of the Romanian exchange. The Warsaw bourse intends to dual-list Romanian companies. During the next couple of months, issuers originating from other Southern and Eastern European countries will debut on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
