On December 19, Shenzhen Stock Exchange ("SZSE") enterred into a Memorandum of Cooperation ("MoC") on Investor Education with China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL), Securities Association of China (SAC), Beijing Office of China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) and Guosen Securities Company Limited. The five parties intend to strengthen cooperation on diverse educational programs on futures and securities, including offering basic courses, conducting campus knowledge competitions and promoting futures and securities knowledge, in order to carry out investor education in the campus and communicate the basic knowledge of the securities sector to university students. This is a major step forward in our efforts to implement the guiding principles of the Opinions of the General Office of the State Council on Further Strengthening the Protection of Lawful Rights and Interests of SMEs on the Capital Market, and to incorporate investor education into the national education system in accordance relevant work arrangements of CSRC.
In recent years, in response to the new situation and new requirements, SZSE has vigorously promoted the integration of investor education into the national education system. Firstly, we have worked hard to provide systematic investor education. The education program has developed from thematic lectures to the "Capital Market Practice" courses with the aim of giving the students an overview of the functions, products and businesses of the capital market. Continued efforts have been made to provide a broad and rich curriculum, improve the program design, cultivate financial thinking and enhance risk awareness. Since 2011, we have cooperated with various colleges and universities to promote investor education, and have organized 32 "Campus Training: Rational Investment" programs, which attracted 5,000 students. Secondly, multiple means have been taken to make sure the investor education is inclusive. Since the beginning of this year, we have signed MoCs with 5 universities and 1 middle school across the country to explore the possibilities of a long-effect mechanism in curriculum development, practical teaching and educational initiatives, which allows all relevant parties to share resources, leverage complementary advantages and achieve win-win cooperation. Thirdly, we have attached great importance to continuous innovation in investor education. In order to introduce investor education into art colleges, we have organized a national animation and comic competition with investor education as the theme. At the event, a number of informative, intelligent and interesting investor education works were created, and were very well received and highly praised.
An official from SZSE emphasized that, by incorporating investor education into the national education system, we can improve the awareness of the just, fair and open principles, the spirit of contract and the culture of integrity in the capital market, and promote the values and ideas of wealth among prospective investors. This is the starting point and ultimate goal of investor education, and also the premise and foundation of a healthy capital market. SZSE will take this cooperation as an opportunity, and continue to improve the awareness of justice, rule of law, integrity and other core values. We will combine theory and practice and promote the further integration of investor education into the national education system, in order to achieve the high-quality development of the capital market.
