The Securities and Futures Fintech Research and Development Center (Shenzhen) (the “Fintech Center”) established and run by SZSE held the 2021 interim research project seminar on September 15, 2021 both on-site and off-site. Over 800 people attended the meeting, including relevant leaders of the Technology Regulation Bureau under the China Securities Regulatory Commission (“CSRC”) and SZSE, consultants of the Fintech Center, project facilitators and technical experts from member units, fund companies and research institutes.
The meeting reported the research progress and interim results of 13 representative projects and had in-depth discussions on a number of research fields including knowledge graph, entity portrait, information security and system R&D and testing, with consultants of the Fintech Center giving professional opinions. All the representatives present at the meeting agreed that institutions participating in the projects conducted and pushed forward project research based on their business scenarios as planned and achieved interim results. They said that institutions would further focus on key points in future and ensure successful conclusion of research projects and effective application of research results.
Relevant official of the CSRC Technology Regulation Bureau indicated that the capital market is currently in a critical period for Fintech innovation and development and CSRC is attaching great importance to the technological innovation of the industry. It is actively promoting the pilot projects of Fintech innovation in the capital market and has included Fintech innovation & research and practice into its 14th five-year plan for the technological development of the industry. The official said that institutions of the industry should closely follow the development trends of digitization, make good use of the Fintech Center as a public research platform of the industry, and strengthen communication, cooperation and resource sharing in and outside the industry. Meanwhile, institutions should intensify innovation, advanced research, promotion and application of Fintech in the industry, and promote technological advancement and innovation of the industry.
Relevant official of SZSE said that promoting the innovation and development of the technologies of the industry and building a new technology ecosystem in the industry are the founding missions of the Fintech Center. Actively building itself as a research results demonstration platform, the Fintech Center has displayed excellent research results in 2020 via various channels and discussed approved projects in 2021 in panels based on different research fields, to facilitate the R&D of industry technologies and application of results in a targeted manner. SZSE will continue to actively participate in the pilot projects of Fintech innovation of the industry, support the Fintech Center in giving play to its platform functions, facilitate communication and cooperation among market participants, and empower the high-quality development of the industry through technological innovation.
Established with the approval of CSRC, the Fintech Center is an industry public research platform that is committed to serving the securities and futures industry and that focuses on Fintech innovation and development. Since its inception, the Fintech Center has run steadily and made remarkable achievements. It has organized the industry to conduct research projects, held industry technology exchange meetings and promoted the application of innovation results. A total of 217 projects have been approved, of which 37 were named excellent projects. Both the number of approved projects and that of participants have continued to expand. The Fintech Center has played an exemplary role in innovation-empowered development.
