On 7th December 2017, Shenzhen Stock Exchange (“SZSE”) successfully held the China-Philippines Capital Market Symposium and Characteristic Project Cooperation Conference in Manila, Philippines to promote cooperation between the capital markets of two sides and further strengthen the capacity of the capital market to serve the real economy in both countries. Chairman of the Administrative Committee of SZSE Wu Lijun, commissioner of Philippines Securities Regulatory Commission (“PhSEC”) Amatong, president of CLSA Tang Zhenyi, vice president of Bank of China Manila branch Chen Xiang, president of Essence Securities Wang Lianzhi, representatives from Philippine Stock Exchange and Chinese Embassy in the Philippines and about a hundred representatives from Philippine major enterprises and financial institutions were present.
SZSE introduced the achievements of the capital market in China, the developments of the Panda bond market, and features of the multi-layer capital market and cross-border capital service mechanism of SZSE. SZSE expressed that relevant Philippine parties are welcome to issue Panda bonds and other cross-border financial products to broaden financing channels and reduce financing costs. Participants from Philippines said that the cooperation between the two sides looked promising with China and Philippines jointly pushing forward various cooperation between the two sides. SZSE’s multi-layer capital market gathered a number of excellent enterprises with innovation and sound growth prospects representing China’s “new economy”, which reflected the strong momentum of China’s economy in transformation and upgrading. Hopefully the economies of China and Philippines would further develop in an integrated way through the cooperation between the capital markets of both sides.
Shenzhen Securities Information Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of SZSE, together with Bank of China Manila branch held the Philippine characteristic enterprises road shows. 4 Philippine characteristic projects were on live road show via SZSE’s cross-border capital service mechanism. Chinese investors were connected by live video during the whole process real time. Cross-border interactions and communications were fierce. The promotion was effective.
During the visit in Philippines, Wu Lijun met with China’s ambassador to Philippines Zhao Jianhua, Treasurer of the Philippines Dominguez, chairman of PhSEC Herbosa and other officers, and persons in charge of Philippine major enterprises and financial institutions separately. All parties are looking forward to the strengthening cooperation between the two sides. Next, SZSE will have extensive exchanges and deep cooperation with Philippine government departments, financial institutions and enterprises, allow more Chinese and Philippine institutions into the service mechanism, facilitate the connection of innovative capital in China and Philippines by relying on the road shows and information service function, and push forward the “Belt and Road” financial innovation.
