Share And Name Changes For The Australian Gas Light Company In The S&P/ASX 50 Index

Standard & Poor’s will make the following changes to the S&P/ASX 50 Index effective after the close of trading Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2006, as a result of an asset swap with Alinta Limited.

The Australian Gas Light Company (SEDOL: 6064969, GICS Code: 55103010), a member of the S&P/ASX 50 Index, will change its name to AGL Energy, and change its ticker code to AGK. Its shares will also decrease to 377,675,003, reflecting the cancellation of shares attributed to Alinta Limited. There will be no GICS Code or IWF change as a result of this action.

The “Alinta Limited – Entitlement” (AANX) dummy security will also be added to the S&P/ASX 50 Index after the close of trading Wednesday, Oct. 11, with 217,720,657 shares on issue, reflecting 0.5775 shares of AAN for each AGK share held. It will be added at the ALN close price on Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2006. AANX will be removed from the S&P/ASX 50 effective after the close of trading Thursday, Oct. 12, 2006, at the close price for AAN on Thursday, Oct. 12, 2006. AANX shares will then be allocated to AAN.
