Judging from the development history of China's capital market, the priorities to market cultivation and development hinge on constant orientation for investors, protecting their legal rights and interests as well as reinforcing their confidence. Starting with popularization of securities knowledge and investment risks, the Investor Orientation Service, built by the Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) in October 2000, has carried out a series of investors' orientation programs featuring the theme of protection of investors' rights and interests. A large number of fledging investors, unaware of risks, flooded into the market this year.
A series of ten lectures were thus organized by the Investor Orientation Service, covering the development history of domestic and overseas securities markets, the risk features of securities market, the concept of value investment and the illegal cases on the securities market. All the fundamental knowledge aims to familiarize investors with the securities market and the investment products for their own good. The first lecture, "Introduction to Securities Market", introduces the basic system, main participants, major risk types and other basic knowledge on the securities market.
