Since the opening of the 17th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the CPC Committee of the Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) has been earnestly learning the gist of the meeting by watching live programs, holding central group study meetings and organizing learning programs for party branch members.
SSE Party Secretary Geng Liang said at the CPC Committee Central Group Study Meeting that the SSE should fully study and understand the gist of the Report to the 17th Party Congress, implement all the requirements of scientific development view, and further the capital market's role in promoting economic development and social harmony. As a vital part of the financial market, the capital market has been playing an increasingly important role in the national economy. The Report to the 17th Party Congress stated clearly that the capital market structure should be optimized and the direct financing proportion should be increased through multi-channels. The statement not only confirmed the capital market development since the reform and opening up, but also gave a direction for the future development of the capital market.
Members of the CPC Committee Central Group held that a multi-level capital market should be actively and steadily developed according to the Report's requirements, with an aim to further expand market level and depth, optimize market structure and functions for its scientific and overall development.
The SSE has a clear orientation on the construction of the multi-level capital market. It will continue to enlarge, optimize and strengthen the main board blue chip market and improve its service functions for the national economy. Meanwhile, it will actively promote the development of the fixed income securities market with the major products of corporate bonds and treasury bonds. Besides, it will also make efforts to change the unreasonable market structure and enhance the price discovery function of the multi-level market.
The Report has made important statements on the coordinated development of urban, rural and regional areas, the resource saving and environmental protection, the construction of an innovative nation, the people's livelihood and social construction as well as the socialist cultural construction. So, the members held that the capital market should make efforts in the above fields and actively cooperate in realizing coordinated economic and social development. The SSE should, according to the capital market's orientation in the national economy and its own situation, make researches and find ways to contribute to these fields for an overall, continuous and coordinated economic and social development.
It is known that the SSE CPC Committee has recently required all departments to study and implement the gist of the 17th Party Congress as an important task currently and in the future. Through prudent arrangement, the SSE will do a better job in learning and publicizing the gist of the 17th Party Congress.
