SGX SICOM Rubber Report – February 2016

  • Benchmarks SICOM TSR 20 and SICOM RSS 3 ended Feb 16 at US$1.120/kg and US$1.259/kg, representing an increase of 4.3% and 2.8% from a month ago respectively. While global rubber stocks remained high, rubber prices benefitted from increasing signs of supply response. Price improvements in the overall commodity complex are also lifting sentiments in the rubber market.

  • SGX SICOM rubber futures volumes traded a total of 58,470 contracts (292,350MT) in Feb 16, decreasing 19% m-o-m but increasing 10% y-o-y.  Daily volume reached a record high of 6,561 lots on 26 Feb 2016.

  • Month end combined open interest stood at 36,327 contracts (181,635MT), increasing 7% m-o-m but increasing 8% y-o-y.

  • SGX celebrated the Top Rubber Clearing Members, Top Rubber Overseas Broker and Top Rubber Traders in 2015 with an award ceremony at the annual RTAS dinner on 26 Feb 2016.  Pictures of the award ceremony can be found in the report.
