- Collaboration and partnerships strengthen Singapore’s position as global financial hub
- Fifth edition of awards part of SGX Group’s efforts to foster financial education and empower investors
Singapore Exchange (SGX Group) has unveiled the winners of SGX Orb Awards 2022, with a focus on the growing trend of collaboration in Asian markets that is strengthening Singapore’s position as an international financial centre.
Content producers submitted work on a range of topics such as volatile conditions in the equity and interest-rate markets, financial innovation – including technology centred on food – as well as the growth of sustainability opportunities in Singapore. Entries for the special category, “Collaborate to Compete”, highlighted how market participants increasingly value collaboration, partnerships and an ecosystem mindset to drive success amid global economic uncertainty.
Launched in 2018, the SGX Orb Awards is part of SGX Group’s efforts to enhance financial education and empower investors. Building on the theme of “Connecting Perspectives and Inspiring Conversations”, this year’s fifth edition attracted submissions from both local and international media, including published work from the print and broadcast media, online news and independent writers such as bloggers and investment websites. Entries included written pieces, podcasts, TV programmes and illustrations.
Submissions were shortlisted by a panel of independent judges comprising Ben King, Country Managing Director at Google Singapore; Robin Hu, Operating Partner and Vice Chairman (Asia) of Temasek International; Susan Soh, Chair of Investment Management Association of Singapore; and Wong Su-Yen, Fellow and Chairperson of the Singapore Institute of Directors.
Teo Ai June, Head of Marketing & Communications at SGX Group, said, “We are delighted to be connecting perspectives with this year’s focus on the value of collaboration, which has seen some of the most engaging stories we have seen so far. True to its mission, the SGX Orb Awards continues to bring together insightful content that helps the public make informed investment decisions. Our congratulations to the winners and finalists and we look forward to expanding our work with the community to enhance financial education.”
This year’s SGX Orb Awards coincides with World Investor Week, a global campaign by the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) to raise awareness of the importance of investor education. Yesterday, SGX Group marked World Investor Week with “Ring the Bell for Financial Literacy”, an initiative by the World Federation of Exchanges.
