- 8th edition brings together perspectives from youths and insights from past winners
SGX Group (Singapore Exchange) today launched its annual SGX Orb Awards, a flagship initiative that celebrates excellence in financial journalism and content. This year’s eighth edition will continue to champion insightful and educational storytelling, with an emphasis on connecting multi-generational perspectives.
Beyond honouring today’s trailblazers in financial content, the SGX Orb Awards is opening the floor to the next generation through a special youth category, while offering insights into the evolution of Singapore’s capital markets with reflections from past winners. By bringing together the experience of seasoned content producers with the curiosity and ambitions of young voices, the awards aim to inspire conversations among experts and emerging talents to foster deeper understanding of the forces that shape capital markets.
The special category will exclusively feature submissions from youth participants, with students invited to share their points of view. This builds on the SGX Capital Markets Conversations for You(th) held in June, supporting SGX Group’s broader commitment to nurture financial education and inspire the next generation of talent to explore the world of capital markets.
A new Luminaries Series will also be introduced in conjunction with SGX Group’s 25th anniversary this year. This will showcase invited contributions from former SGX Orb Awards recipients, providing diverse viewpoints on the transformation of Singapore’s financial marketplace over the years.
In showcasing quality financial content, the SGX Orb Awards aims to empower investors to make informed investment decisions and advance financial knowledge in the ecosystem. Since its inception in 2018, the awards have spotlighted content creation across formats that include news reporting, multimedia storytelling, video features and illustrations.
Nominations and submissions are now open at https://www.sgx.com/sgx-orb-awards. The winners from five categories will be unveiled at the end of November 2025.
Appendix: SGX Orb Awards – Award Categories
- Story of the Year
We are seeking a news story, feature or opinion piece that best offers insights into investing across marketplaces – equities, currencies, commodities and fixed income. What innovations have driven market development and bolstered opportunities for retail and institutional investors? How has technology transformed risk management by reinforcing trust and efficiency, while promoting sustainable growth? The winner of this category will demonstrate the ability to uncover a fresh angle and capture what is important for market participants to know.
- Special Category: The Markets of Tomorrow
This year’s special category invites youth to break boundaries with bold, fresh content on the future of global finance and capital markets. As Singapore and exchanges like SGX Group navigate seismic shifts in technology, asset classes and investor expectations, we want to know: how do you think tomorrow’s markets will take shape? Picture a world where exchanges become launchpads for everything from digital assets to carbon credits and collectibles – what new forms of value and innovation could arise in a landscape of real-time transparency and borderless opportunity?
Whether you’re drawn to short-form videos, long-form essays, podcasts or visual stories, we welcome perspectives that challenge assumptions and spark new dialogue. This is your chance to reimagine capital markets – be daring, be visionary, and show us the next big idea.
- The Hidden Gem
This award seeks to honour the best feature or analysis of an under-covered stock listed either on SGX Mainboard or Catalist. The challenge will be to uncover a fresh angle that investors or analysts may have missed. If you have a knack for turning complex concepts into clear and precise storytelling, we want to hear from you.
- An Experiential Treat
This popular category is for all things creative and experiential – for example, a broadcast segment for TV, a captivating video, podcast or illustrations that probe deep into the workings of a financial or commodity asset class. The winner will deliver a compelling story while offering viewers an experience to remember.
- #TheGoTo
We aim to enhance financial education, and the award for this category will go to the best digital platform – whether it is an online news aggregator, financial blogger, independent website or social media site that most empowers investors to make educated decisions with their money. If your work stands out from the pack for all the right reasons, you can be a winner.
