SGX Nikkei 225 Stock Index Futures Contract Breaks Record

Singapore Exchange Ltd (SGX) today announced that its SGX Nikkei 225 Stock Index Futures contract traded a record volume of 128,910 contracts on 12 March 2003. This new record surpassed its previous high of 116,762 contracts set on 13 September 2001.

The SGX Nikkei 225 Index Futures contract has witnessed active trading since the beginning of this year. From Jan to Feb 2003, trading volumes soared 23.3% to 819,830 contracts as compared to 665,133 contracts traded in the corresponding period last year.
