Mr Kloet is a board director as well as board treasurer of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME). He was the chairman of the CME Clearing-house Oversight Committee (1997-1999), and is currently a member of the Globex Foreign-Exchange Facility Board. He has been the Chairman or Vice-Chairman of several committees, including strategic planning; finance, budgeting and planning; and compensations. He was also a member of the joint strategic initiatives committee.
Mr Kloet has had long exposure to the global financial services industry, particularly on the derivatives side. At ABN AMRO in Chicago, he was responsible for managing the accounting, legal, compliance, IT, credit, operations, and risk-management activities of the global futures and options business. While there, he oversaw the development of a global customer-data delivery system and a global order-routing system; expanded into selected over-the-counter derivatives; and integrated acquired units into the global futures line of business.
Mr Kloet has a degree in accounting from the University of Iowa and is a chartered accountant. He started his career as a staff auditor at the CME, and served successively in several well-known international firms, in audit, control, financial, and COO functions, before taking up his position in ABN AMRO.
