SGX Appoints New Head For Its Products & Services Group

Singapore Exchange Limited (SGX) is pleased to appoint Mr Linus Koh, aged 47, as its new Head of Products and Services group with effect from 20 May 2004. Mr Koh will also serve as a member of SGX's Executive Committee.

"Mr Koh will bring to SGX more than 20 years of valuable experience in the securities and derivatives business and a deep understanding of the international capital markets, through the key roles he had played in trading and sales, management, planning, operations and business development."

"In his new role, Linus will drive SGX's efforts in developing and managing an appropriate range of products and services and broaden the range of securities and derivatives instruments in the various asset classes that will help to grow the market in Singapore," said Mr Hsieh Fu Hua, Chief Executive Officer of SGX.

Mr Koh will officially relinquish his position as Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of G. K. Goh Holdings Limited from 19 May 2004.

Before that, Mr Koh was Chief Operating Officer, Asia Pacific, at Deutsche Bank Group, where he played a critical role in formulating and implementing business strategies across the region. He led in a wide spectrum of functions and projects as Chief Operating Officer of Asia Global Markets, Singapore (1997-8) and Chief Operating Officer of Global Foreign Exchange in London (1995 to 1997), including developing risk-control and management frameworks, operational and management initiatives and building their global foreign exchange business.

Mr Koh also held key positions in State Street Bank & Trust Co in Boston, the Union Bank of Switzerland, Morgan Grenfell (Asia) Ltd and Citibank, N.A., Singapore.

Mr Koh sits on the Council and Executive Committee of the Singapore Institute of International Affairs, and was a member of the Business Development Group at the Monetary Authority of Singapore, the Resource Panel of the Singapore Government Parliamentary Committee on Finance and Trade & Industry, and the Advisory Board of the Centre for Financial Engineering at National University of Singapore.

Mr Koh holds a 1st class Honours degree in Economics from the Sheffield University on a government overseas merit scholarship and holds a Master of Science degree in Management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
