SGX And ASX To Add More Stocks To Co-Trading Link

Date 27/03/2003

Singapore Exchange Ltd (SGX) and Australian Stock Exchange Ltd (ASX) today announced that the number of stocks available for co-trading will double with effect from 31 March 2003.

With the new additions, there will now be 100 Singapore stocks and 100 Australian stocks available for trading through the link. The decision to increase the number of stocks was in response to growing interest in the co-trading link and market demand for stocks from a broader range of sectors.

Mr Gan Seow Ann, EVP and Head of SGX Securities Trading, said, "Both exchanges are encouraged by the positive market feedback on the co-trading link. The expanded list of stocks adds greater depth to the linkage facility and this should attract more investors to put trades through."

Ms Marina Gunthorpe, ASX World Link Manager, said, "The addition of the new securities to the co-trading link marks an important milestone in our efforts to meet customer requests. We are pleased that both exchanges can deliver a more comprehensive international service, one that should provide the market access now demanded by Australian and Singaporean investors."

SGX and ASX will continue to review the list of stocks and add to the list as market interest develops. The list of the newly added stocks is attached.
