SFE Has Successful First Day Of Year 2000 Trading

The Sydney Futures Exchange (SFE) completed its first 24 hours of operation in the year 2000 without disruption.
All systems are operating normally, with 83,682 futures and options contracts, valued at $32.9 million, being traded during Tuesday's day session - more than double the 40,663 contracts exchanged on the first trading day last year.
The first clearing run for 2000 was completed with all operational procedures meeting usual schedules.
The three parties that interface electronically with SFE - Members, Quote Vendors and Back Office Accounting Providers - all experienced successful connections to SFE systems.
SFE's subsidiary, the New Zealand Futures and Options Exchange, commenced trading at 8.00am NZT, Wednesday 5 January. The market is operating normally with no Y2K-related issues identified.
