The TIF Internet solution operated today by SWX Swiss Exchange enables the compilation and processing of the relevant core data, latest published prices and developments in the net asset value of investment funds approved for distribution in Switzerland. At present, all major fund distributors in Switzerland are linked to this system, a product of the collective efforts of the SFA, SWX Swiss Exchange and the Swiss investment fund industry. At the end of October 2003, the total value of funds placed in Switzerland was determined as amounting to CHF 422.6 billion. Broken down by investment approach, the individual subtotals are as follows:

The above data is based on information supplied by the ca. 1'460 most widely distributed funds in Switzerland and thus can be considered a representative sample. By clearly limiting its readings to the value of funds that have been placed in a single country, this series of statistics is unique in all of Europe.
In future the SFA, in cooperation with SWX Swiss Exchange, will closely monitor developments in the Swiss investment fund market on the basis of this data, as well as issue regular commentaries. In so doing, both organisations wish to make a significant contribution toward enhanced transparency with regard to the developments in a sector that is of importance to the entire Swiss financial marketplace.
