The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) announced seven Thai listed firms recently won 14 investor relations awards from the international IR magazine, granting prestigious awards to recognize listed firms across the world with excellent performance on investor relations (IR), while 24 candidates from Thailand passed into the final round, highest number among ASEAN. This underlines Thai listed firms’ growth potential while gaining recognition from international institutional investors.
On December 1, 2016, the IR Magazine Awards & Conference-South East Asia 2016 event, jointly hosted by SET and IR Magazine, took place in Thailand for the first time.
SET President Kesara Manchusree said that the IR Magazine and SET have joined forces in hosting this world-class event for the first time in Thailand to exchange knowledge and expertise on international practices of IR function, provide exclusive insight on from international institutional investors and honor listed firms, based on opinion survey among institutional investors in each region. The IR Magazine awards granted to listed firms were categorized by region such as Europe, America, ASEAN, among others. For ASEAN, the winners have been selected from listed firms in Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines.
“This year seven Thai listed firms were granted 14 investor relations awards from IR magazine in honor of their excellence in investor relations in each category. Significantly, KBANK won six awards, the highest number of awards among Thai firms. This reinforces Thai listed firms’ growth potential and world-class IR practices. Investor relations (IR) plays a vital role in creating confidence and value for listed firms especially in communicating transparent and accurate information, while monitoring investors’ and stakeholders’ opinions. SET has continuously been supporting listed firms to strengthen their investor relations via IR professional training programs, one-on-one advisory services and the initiative “Opportunity Day” quarterly activities where listed firms can meet directly with investors,” added Kesara.

- Advance Info Services pcl (ADVANC) receiving Best in sector: Communications
- Kasikornbank pcl (KBANK) receiving six awards: Best use of technology, Best sustainability practice, Best in sector: Financials, Best in country: Thailand, Best investor relations officer and Best overall investor relations (large cap)
- Global Power Synergy pcl (GPSC), receiving Most progress in IR
- Minor International pcl (MINT) receiving Best in sector: Consumer discretionary & consumer staples
- The Siam Cement pcl (SCC) receiving two awards: Best corporate governance, Best in sector: Industrials & materials
- Siam Wellness Group pcl (SPA) receiving Best IR by a mai company
- Thai Oil pcl (TOP) receiving two awards: Best IR by a senior management team, Best in sector: Energy
The winners’ selection procedure was based on opinion survey among institutional investors in each region in various aspects, covering corporate governance practices, quality of financial reports, investors’ meetings, sustainable practices and others.
