SETTRADE Launches All-Inclusive Investment Portal Site

Date 27/06/2002

SETTRADE launches an all-inclusive investment portal website containing information and research studies from fifteen brokerage houses, IPO subscription services, an online stock trading system, plus the Mobile Alert service. Grand opening will be at "SET in the City" on July 12-14. 40,000 registered members by the end of 2002 is the target.

Mr. Somkid Jiranuntarat, CEO of SETTRADE.COM Co., Ltd. announced that the Investment Portal, an Internet portal for the investing community, would officially be launched at the "SET in the City" Investment Expo that the SET will hold in cooperation with Money & Banking Magazine at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center from July 12-14.

This investment portal site is based on a revamp of SETTRADE.COM that has turned the site into a center for investment news and information, stock analyses from the leading brokerage houses, web board and inquiry service for the investor. There will also be marketing representatives from securities companies, veteran investors, and analysts from brokerage houses to answer questions and offer suggestions.

Investment columns written by investment experts such as Dr. Niwes Hemvachiravarakorn and Dr. Somjin Sornpaisarn are slated, plus a "Stock Focus" column, as well as the webcasting of securities analysts through broadband transmission.

Furthermore, the information disclosure form (56-1) that listed companies must submit to the Office of the SEC, reporting their company information, financial statements, directors, and other related information would be available on this Portal as well.

"This website will be open for public access to help the public learn for free more about investment, starting from basic information to more complicated issues, like analytical tools for savvy investors. The registered members can view real-time stock quotations and set up an alert for when the stocks in their portfolio reach a pre-determined price level, plus there will be a tool to help them check the price ratios and their unrealized gains or losses. The system provided in this website will be customized to serve each group of investors."

In addition to the stock quotations, SETTRADE also provides tools for technical analysis, IPO subscription and e-payment systems. At "SET in the City", there will be a demonstration of the share subscription system - but using movie tickets instead of shares. Investors are therefore able to gain experience of the share subscription system.

"An online IPO subscription service is an important strategy for expanding the investor base, as successful IPO share subscribers are potential investors once they become a shareholder in the stock market."

Moreover, investors can open their Internet trading accounts with SETTRADE's allied group of brokers, subscribe to either or both the Email Alert and Mobile Alert services, which will allow them to set price levels of the stocks and receive a notification whenever the price reaches that level. A SMS will be sent to their mobile phones charged at three baht per message by AIS, which will be shown in their telephone bills.

"In the near future we will expand our services to provide a investment simulation as well, so that investors can trade stocks on the simulated system before opening real trading accounts and trading real stocks. This service will be demonstrated first at "SET in the City"."

Interested persons can now register at SETTRADE.COM. SETTRADE expects the number of registrations to increase from 20,000 to 40,000 people this year.

Some parts of the information on the website, however, will still be available to non-members.

The technology adopted by SETTRADE is of world standard and can accommodate extensive use, while at the same time, being highly secure and fast.

In the future SETTRADE plans to collaborate with listed companies to make the information more in-depth so as to help investors understand more about the nature of the business and strategies of different companies.
