SETTRADE Develops Thailand's First Comprehensive Website For Mutual Fund Information

Date 16/04/2004

SETTRADE Dot Com's Vice President-Marketing and Business Development, Mr. Kirati Kosicharoen, announced that SETTRADE, in conjunction with the Office of Securities Exchange Commission and the Association of Investment Management Companies (AIMC), has developed the website www.thaimutualfund.com to be the first website that gathers complete information regarding all mutual funds from every investment management company in Thailand. This will include the fund's performance, past to present, classified by the fund and the investment management company, so as to make any search easier. The website is available for the public starting today. People interested in mutual fund information will also be able to view the information via their mobile phones for the first time. This development enhances and helps more widely distribute information on mutual funds.

Mr. Veerachote Jiraborvornpongsa, Secretary-General and President of AIMC, said that: "People interested in buying the unit trusts will benefit greatly. They can study the funds' information and take the test to see if they properly understand and are willing to accept the risks involved, then they can select the funds or investment types suited to them.

For existing unit holders, they can check as well as monitor their funds' performances on the website. They can check their funds' Net Asset Values (NAV) under the "NAV Center" Menu. Each morning the latest NAV for all funds will be sent directly from the investment management companies. The unit holders will then have another alternative to the newspapers in monitoring their funds' movements."

The service will, moreover, enable investors to check the NAV by sending a short message through their AIS mobile phones. To send a short message, prompt for the 'Write Messages' Menu, type the fund code and send to 80099. After that the investors will receive a return message showing the latest NAV value as well as the bid and offer prices. The short message service normally costs 3 baht per message. Alternatively, the NAV information can also be retrieved via AIS's mobileLife service by choosing 'mobileLIFE Today', select 'Mutual Fund', and key in the fund code. Viewing the NAV information via this service costs 4 baht with unlimited times of data requests.

Mr.Kirati added that: "With SETTRADE's technological edge, the investors will be able to retrieve information far more conveniently. Providing the mutual fund information on the website and mobile phones will help more widely distribute the information corresponding to investors' interests as well as facilitating investment in the mutual funds."
