SET: Securities Trading Soared To 500 Billion Baht In First 2-Months

The Managing Director of the Capital Market Opportunity Center (CMOC) and the Market for Alternative Investment (MAI), Ms. Sopawadee Lertmanaschai, commenting on the figures for the first two months of 2002 disclosed the following: "During January-February 2002, securities trading reached 515,297.48 million baht in total, which was close to the total turnover for the first quarter last year. In Jan.-Mar. 2001, total trading turnover was 516,045 million baht. As regards securities trading in February 2002, total market turnover reached 42,278.52 million shares in volume and 250,809.38 million baht in value, a decrease of 13,678.72 million baht (5.17%) from January 2002. The SET Index closed on February 28 at 371.81, up by 30.99 points or 9.09% from January 2002 (which closed at 340.82), and with the Derivative Warrants of Siam Commercial Bank (SCB-C1) as the most actively traded securities."
