The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) and MBK pcl is jointly organizing “SET Social Impact Fair 2018: Craft for Change”, opening up a marketplace for 16 social enterprises (SEs) skillful in hand-woven fabric products, aiming to create positive social impact by creating jobs and generating income for communities in 19 provinces nationwide, reinforcing SET’s vision “To Make the Capital Market ‘Work’ for Everyone”. The Fair is held during June 20-24 at MBK Center in Bangkok.
SET Senior Executive Vice President Krisada Sektrakul said that to bridge business and society, SET Social Impact Platform has been initiated to cover digital platform and various activities. The fair is the activity aiming to enhance distribution channels for SEs which has been held for the third year and this year is the year for 16 SEs that have helped create jobs and generate income for the disadvantaged, women and communities in 19 provinces from all regions showcasing artistic skills and unique designs.
“The fair is another form of social impact investment for the private sector to use their own resources to support the social sectors in order to generate good social impact together, in line with SET’s strategic plan “Creating Partnership Platform to Drive Inclusive Growth”, added Krisada.
Siratha Suksawang, Executive Vice President, Marketing Division of MBK pcl said that MBK always realizes the importance of supporting vendors and retail tenants to be able to create their own brand and sales of quality Thai products. For this event, the exhibition and sales of woven fabric products, inspired by local wisdom and cultural heritage, will be attractive to Thai and foreign customers. The result is not only being a springboard to express the unique Thainess through the local entrepreneurs’ work of art, but also facilitating the marketplace for the villagers and woven fabric clusters to expose their talents to tourists from around the world.
The event features various kinds of uniquely designed and eco-friendly hand-woven fabric products such as indigo dyed cotton, natural cotton, natural-color dyed silk, shirts, bags and shoes.
