SET Named "Best Central Securities Depository In Southeast Asia 2017"

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) affirms its strategy "Towards Sustainable Growth with Innovation" with the special Marquee Award for “Best Central Securities Depository in Southeast Asia 2017” at the 11th Annual Alpha Southeast Asia Deal & Solution Awards 2017 held by Alpha Southeast Asia, the leading institutional magazine in the region.

The magazine attributed the award winning is the result of  successful developments of Thailand Securities Depository Co., Ltd. (TSD), a subsidiary of SET, in recent years with commitment to raise the post-trade service bar to international standards. TSD, one of Southeast Asia’s advanced securities depositaries, is also known for enabling efficient and transparent operational system and services within the industry.  Moreover, it is well staffed with individuals that improving operational and service efficiency.

SET President Kesara Manchusree said, “SET has continued enhancing infrastructure & capability to make Thai capital market grow with quality and sustainability over the long term while being able to compete effectively on the international stage, catering to all demands, serving investors and listed companies more efficiently and securing the leadership in ASEAN.”

SET targets to move to T+2 settlement cycle on March 2, 2018. This will help reducing the risks and costs and making it more convenient for cross-border portfolio investment. This change will keep SET aligned with the leading settlement practices in markets around the world, while enhancing the Thai capital market’s competitive edge.

The Alpha Southeast Asia Awards is the regional award that focuses on Southeast Asia in the areas of debt, equity, FXs, investment banking, brokerage, Islamic finance, wealth management, trade finance and cash management. SET was selected from eligibility among both local, foreign banks in Southeast Asia. The process involved surveying issuers and investors in the region.

The Thailand Securities Depository Co., Ltd. (TSD) works as the central securities depository for stocks and bonds in Thailand using a scripless system, handling post-trade services for investor flows in Thailand.
