SET Holds Young Capital Market Professional Competition, “YFS 2019”

 The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), Muang Thai Life Assurance pcl,  PTT pcl,  KASIKORNBANK pcl,  and alliances in the capital market,  has  joined forces to organize the Young Financial Star Competition (YFS) for the 17th year. This project aims to enhance the potential of university-level students in finance and investment fields and prepare them to become quality financial professionals for the Thai capital market.

SET Senior Executive Vice President Krisada Sektrakul said that the YFS project seeks to develop university-level students’ potential, sharpening their financial and investment knowledge and skills, while grooming them to become the new wave of workforces that innovates securities firms, listed companies and other agencies in the capital market amid the rapid change in the digital era. 

This year the competition could attract 5,704 students from 84 universities nationwide. Of the total, 308 students from 34 universities passed the first round and received intensive training courses, with over 67 percent passed the Single License test.

YFS 2019 winners in each category are:

  • Sawaddisopaphun Prasopsri from Chulalongkorn University, as SET Investment Star
  • Thanisorn Silamaneerat from Thammasat University, as SET Corporate Finance Star
  • Napatee Pisitsak from Chiang Mai University, as Muang Thai Life Assurance Star
  • Jirapat Krisanapook from Kasetsart Universit Sriracha Campus, as KBank Financial Planning Star
  • A team with members from Chiang Mai University, Chulalongkorn University, Kasetsart University, Thammasat University, and Ubonratchathani University, who presented “Bio No.1” project, has been granted the PTT Star Team.

Winners and runners-up received scholarships worth THB 7 million (approx. USD 225,800) in total, inclusive of grants for international study trips, financial supports for Certified Investment and Securities Analyst (CISA) and Certified Financial Planner Program (CFP) examinations, as well as plaques and certificates in recognition of their accomplishments.

In total, more than 82,000 students have joined YFS competition over the past 17 years. The project has groomed a number of quality financial professionals to the Thai capital market in many related areas such as investment consultants, financial planners, securities analysts, investment bankers, and fund managers as well as other financial professionals.
