Date 21/06/2017

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), together with the Thai Listed Companies Association (TLCA), continues to groom new financial professionals for the Thai capital market by organizing the “Young Corporate Financial Officer 2017” (YFO 2017) program for the fourth consecutive year. This project seeks to encourage university students nationwide to choose careers in Investor Relations and as Financial Analysts so as to promote sustainable growth for listed companies and the Thai capital market.

SET President Kesara Manchusree said that SET aims to groom students to become professionals for careers in the capital market, especially in investor relations and financial analysis, the two fields that are significant parts of the mechanism involving listed companies, securities companies, investors and the capital market as a whole.  To achieve the goal, SET in conjunction with the Thai Investor Relations Club (TIRC) under the Thai Listed Companies Association will be hosting the “Young Corporate Financial Officer 2017, an annual event on its 4th year. Students in their senior year at university or graduates in Finance and Economics are invited to join the program.

“Seventy-two university students who have been selected for ‘Young Corporate Financial Officer 2017’ will attend workshops focusing on investor relations and financial analysis.  At the end of the program, there will be a competition on analyzing and presenting information of listed companies. Students have the opportunity to present their case studies to the panel of experts, composed of executives from both listed companies and leading organizations in the capital market. This will be a unique opportunity for participants to gain constructive comments and suggestions from experts with real-world experience," added Kesara.

Oranuch Apisaks, Chairman of the Thai Listed Companies Association, said that the selected students will have a chance to work as interns with SET-listed companies.  This year, the Thai Listed Companies Association in cooperation with 29 listed companies will provide students with a variety of internship programs. This is considered an excellent opportunity for students to gain direct work experience in the capital market, paving way for their bright future career.

Surayut Thavikulwat, President of the Thai Investor Relations Club, said that YFO 2017 project has been specially tailored by bringing together leading professionals from listed companies, securities companies, and asset management companies, in addition to the top-notch professors, to share their knowledge and experience during the 12-day program. Participants will have great opportunities to get a good start with careers in the capital market.

The “Young Corporate Financial Officer 2017” competition will be organized from June 20 - July 1, 2017.  For further details, please visit www.set.or.th/newbreed
