The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) announced the results of the SET Awards 2023, which marks the 20th anniversary of the event, under the theme of "Benchmark of Excellence". In the Business Excellence Awards category, Piyajit Ruckariyapong, Chief Executive Officer of Sappe pcl (SAPPE) was named the Best CEO Awards (SET), while Kettivit Sittisoontornwong Chief Executive Officer of Leo Global Logistics pcl (LEO) received the Best CEO Awards (mai). A total of four companies were resented the SET Award of Honor, consisting of Kiatnakin Phatra Securities pcl (KKPS) as having received the award for three consecutive years, PTT Exploration and Production pcl (PTTEP) and Plan B Media pcl (PLANB) clinched Best Investor Relations Awards, and PTT pcl (PTT) was presented Best Innovative Company Awards.
As for the Sustainability Excellence Awards category, the awards were granted to 35 leading companies as role models in sustainability. Among these, 10 companies received Sustainability Awards of Honor, given to those have had excellent performance for three straight years and more, consisting of Amata Corporation pcl (AMATA), Banpu pcl (BANPU), Bangchak Corporation pcl (BCP), IRPC pcl (IRPC), PTT pcl (PTT), PTT Exploration and Production pcl (PTTEP), PTT Global Chemical pcl (PTTGC), Somboon Advance Technology pcl (SAT), Siam Cement pcl (SCC), and Thai Oil pcl (TOP).
SET President Pakorn Peetathawatchai expressed congratulations to all winners of SET Awards 2023 and added that these companies demonstrate excellent standards in business and sustainability aspects, which are considered important parts in leveling up the Thai capital market towards sustainable growth. SET really admired the winners of the Best CEO Awards in leading the organizations forward under the current situation where businesses must adapt and manage risk factors all around and have become role models for other companies in creating inspiration. They have also motivated other companies to continuously develop organizational quality, initiate innovations, deliver good operating results, particularly having responsibility for stakeholders by taking into consideration the environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) aspects. These lead to sustainable growth, in line with the SET vision of “To Make the Capital Market ‘Work’ for Everyone’ to benefit all sectors.
This year, the Business Excellence Awards were presented to 31 listed companies, of which 17 were listed on SET and seven on mai, four were securities companies (including financial advisory companies), two were asset management companies, and the remaining one was real estate investment trust (REIT). In addition, a total of four companies have continued to maintain excellence for three years or more in a row, and have received SET Awards of Honor, consisting of Kiatnakin Phatra Securities pcl (KKPS), PTT Exploration and Production pcl (PTTEP), Plan B Media pcl (PLANB) and PTT pcl (PTT).
For the Sustainability Excellence Awards category, there were 35 recipients, consisting of seven companies winning Best Sustainability Awards, six companies winning Highly Commended Sustainability Awards, and 12 companies winning Commended Sustainability Awards. Nine companies maintained their back-to-back excellence and received the Sustainability Awards of Honor, namely BANPU, BCP, IRPC, PTT, PTTEP, PTTGC, SAT, SCC, and TOP, and AMATA was first presented the Sustainability Awards of Honor.
Money & Banking Magazine Editor-in-Chief, co-founder of SET Awards project, and one of the SET Awards’ judging panelists Santi Viriyarangsarit said that the SET Awards are valuable top-notch awards granted to companies with outstanding performance and excellence in various fields. This year more companies received SET Awards of Honor, reflecting their commitment to maintaining standards of excellence in diverse fields to become role models for other organizations in the Thai capital market. In addition, the number of companies receiving Best Innovative Company Awards increased to 10, suggesting outstanding potential of companies in the ecosystem of the Thai capital market in placing importance on innovation management enterprise-wide in order to continuously showcase innovations. Significantly, this will have a positive impact on driving and developing the country’s overall economic system to a greater extent.”
The working group of honorary judges comprise Chaiyawat Wibulswasdi, Seri Jintanaseri, Santi Viriyarangsarit, Yut Worachatthan, Patareeya Benjapolchai, Teeranun Srihong, Pakorn Peetathawatchai, Manpong Senanarong, Soraphol Tulayasathien, and Amnouy Jiramahapoka as secretary of this working group.
This year's SET Awards are classified into 2 categories. The first one is the Business Excellence Awards consisting of eight awards namely 1) Best CEO Awards, and Young Rising Star CEO Awards; 2) Best Company Performance Awards; 3) Best REIT Performance Awards; 4) Deal of the Year Awards; 5) Best Investor Relations Awards; 6) Best Innovative Company Awards; 7) Best Securities Company Awards; 8) Best Asset Management Company Awards. Another one is the Sustainability Excellence Awards consisting of two awards namely 1) Sustainability Awards, and 2) Supply Chain Management Awards. Notably, the SET Awards of Honor are for companies or individuals that secure excellence continuously for three years or more.
